Week 1: Home MTC, July 7-14, 202, The Only Missionary in Guatemala City
¡Hola!
This week has been AMAZING!! I have loved my mission so much so far. Zoom Mtc es un poco extraño, but I love it so much. My district is great! Hermana Skouson is my companion from Iowa. She is so amazing. I learn something new from her everyday. And my favorite thing she’s taught me is that Iowans ask how the crops are doing and it’s adorable. We get along so great and it makes me a little sad we aren’t in the actual CCM together. We are also the only sister companionship in my district so that’s a little fun. Our first meeting together as a district I think we all immediately loved each other so much. And it’s been getting better and better since then.
Something I have felt so strongly this week is that God is aware of each of us and loves us all so much. I have been trying to meet any missionary going to Guatemala City central… with no luck. I had only really met like two missionaries even going to Guatemala. I was pretty sure I was going to be the only missionary in all of the Guatemala City central mission… and then! Just yesterday, we had a workshop with about 300 missionaries that are in the CCM. While in a breakout room I got to know two Elders. As we were getting to know each other, one of them asked where we were serving our missions. One said he was going to Guatemala City central!! I was so ecstatic! Then the other Elder shared that that was his mission too. So I now know that there will be at least three missionaries in the Guatemala City central mission.
On Friday, the stress of adjusting to missionary life became a little too much. I just wanted to watch a show! 18 months seemed so long. But instead of watching a show, I read my Libro de Mormón out loud. I bawled like a baby. So many people sacrificed their lives for the Book of Mormon and for us to receive it. Joseph and Hyrum Smith gave their lives for this Gospel. Jesus Christ paid the ultimate price so that we can live again with our Heavenly Parents. I was filled with so much gratitude for all these people and especially for my Savior. I know we are loved beyond comprehension by our Heavenly Parents and Jesus Christ. I’m so grateful I get to share this love with the people in Guatemala!
Love, Hermana Snow
