Week 8: August 24-30, 2021 Guatemala
Hello family and friends!
This week was absolutely fantastic, crazy,
hard, amazing, and did I say fantastic?
We started off our week with a lesson with a
recent convert. Brother Service is the most adorable man you will ever meet.
He's super tall and gangly and extremely intelligent and quirky. I love him so
much. He shared his conversion story and its absolutely amazing. As
missionaries, we have to have a woman present at every lesson. So we invited a
woman from the ward along. She had a very hard time comprehending what Brother
Service was saying and kept asking him things like, "have you had all the
lessons?" or "do you need the missionaries to talk more with you
about what we believe?" For some reason she could not get that he was
telling us the story of how he came to believe in the church. But it was such a
great experience. I left that wanting to find another Brother Service and help
that person come to know Christ like the missionaries did for him.
I also had a fun little experience of being
quarantined for two days because Sister Smyth was sick. The night before she
got sick I had prayed, pleading Heavenlu Father to not send me to Guatemala
just to be quarantined. My favorite part as a missionary is connecting with
people and that's so hard when you're stuck in a little place all day. Well.
God always answers prayers. And I was put in quarantine for two whole days. And
it wasn't that bad. I really appreciated the time to get to know more about
Sister Smyth and studying more. Sister Smyth and I really connected this week and
you guys, she is the absolute best! So long story short, after those two days i
realized that I could do quarantine if I needed to. I still don't want to
though haha.
And then I got a call from Utah the next day
asking for Sister Snow. I honestly thought it was church headquarters and I
thought, "crap they're sending me to Guatemala" Oh my goodness! It
turned out to be my wonderful aunt and uncle who live in the Kingman stake, the
stake I'm serving in. So no, I'm not going to Guatemala just yet.
And a fantastic week has to have a fantastic
ending. Saturday turned out to be a crazy, amazing day. Everything we planned
fell through but everything worked out for the better. Elders in my district
called us last minute saying they were going to be late for their
EnglishConnect class. They asked if we could step in and teach. Scary! But I
was so excited. I finally got to use my Spanish. And the people we met were so
amazing and so wonderful. Spanish really is the Celestial language :)
This week was great. Honestly. I love serving
a mission. It's hard work but rewarding work. I've struggled because we don't
have anyone we are teaching and no matter how hard we work, we still aren't
finding anyone. Sometimes that's discouraging. But I have found peace in
knowing that Heavenly Father loves me. He is proud when we put in the effort.
Whenever I forget this I am reminded to pray and read the scriptures. There I
find peace. And everyone can too! PRAY!!! It is the most amazing thing and such
a wonderful gift. Talk to Him who knows and loves you best.
Con amor,
Sister/Hermana Snow
