Week 25: Feliz Navidad December 21-27, 2021
wow this week was weird. Christmas on the
mission is different. I missed all the traditions from home but it also just
didn't really feel like Christmas so I wasnt that homesick. When it's 55°
outside you really don't realize it's Christmas time which is a blessing and a
curse.
The members really pulled through though. We
had a Christmas Eve dinner, Christmas day dinner, and so many gifts in between.
They really tried to help us feel loved and not too homesick. For Christmas Eve
dinner we went to the Leavitts house. They're super cute! But she asked our
moms what Christmas traditions we had on Christmas eve and dishes we would eat
back home. And then she made them! She explained it to us and she started
crying and told is how much she appreciates out service. Ugh it made me tear up
it was so sweet!
We had a mission Christmas celebration
(basically a party but ya know...) and it was so fun! I got to see all my Paraiso
missionaries and just some of my favorite people. It hit me hard how much I
miss them. But así es la vida. Before the party began, we had a spiritual
devotional and it was so powerful. I don't really remember what was said
exactly or what scriptures were used, but I do remember feeling so strongly
that Jesus Christ understands each of us. He loves each of us! It was an
amazing way to start off the Christmas weekend.
We had an awesome lady on date for 1st but she
texted us yesterday saying she's not ready and now she's ghosting us. So we
were mega sad Sunday. We just kept saying if only they knew how much we put
into them, how much we plan for them, pray for them, etc. they wouldn't drop us
like that. So pray for Matilde. She'd so ready but she has a lot to overcome.
And pray for our broken hearts lol.
We did have our first exchange as STLs (
) and it was so
fun! I'm still not into the whole STL thing because it's scary haha but I love
getting to know so many sisters. They're all so amazing and it's also fun to
serve a short time in different areas.
We had a farewell and a homecoming talk in our
English ward this week. It's so weird having those types of talks on the
mission. I'm so excited for the missionary going out and jealous/sad for the
rm. He talked about one of the hardest parts of his mission was when he took
off his name tag for the last time. As much as I want to hug my mom and family,
I can't imagine spending my time doing anything else. It's hard being a
missionary. But it's also the most amazing thing! I've really grown closer to
our Savior, Jesus Christ. I know He lives! He is the Savior and Redeemer of the
World. As you think of your new years goals, think about His plan for you and
what He knows you can accomplish. Think about how you can grow closer to Him!
I love you, your mom loves you, and Jesus
loves you!
Con amor,
Hermana Snow
Ps. Thanks for all who sent me a present or
wished me a merry Christmas or reached out in any way. I truly felt so much
love this Christmas! Thank you!
