Week 10: Its covered in CATS! September 7-13, 2021
Hi everyone! September 13, 2021
Thanks so much for all who have reached out
and emailed me. Pdays are the only days I can respond and usually I have zero
time to do that. So I do read all the emails I receive, I just can't respond to
like any of them. Haha Love you all
This week was interesting. I'm still suffering
through these allergies. I've never had allergy problems before Kingman.
Annoying. But I think I've figure out its the cats! We have a trailer park in
our area that is covered in cats. And I'm pretty sure I'm major allergic to
that place. Buuuut we have a lot of people there so what do you do haha.
We are working with this couple in our ward. She
is a member and he is not, but he's interested. When we first got here they did
not want the missionaries coming around because of covid. Last week, she broke
her ankle and gave us a call asking for us to stop by and bring someone to give
her a blessing. No one from the ward could do it so we had the Spanish Elders
come and give her a blessing. The dear sister actually knew one of the Elders
and she started crying when she saw him! It ended up being a really amazing
meeting that turned into a lesson with her husband. This sister was baptized a
few years back when Sister missionaries met with her. She told us she loves the
Elders but she loves the sisters more haha. It is impossible not to see the
hand of the Lord in this. What began as a terrible moment, turned into us being
able to meet them and teach them. This week she went to the doctor to see if
she needed surgery. She was so nervous before going so she gave us a call
asking us to pray with her before going in. We did and she cried and told us
how much we mean to her. It was a sweet moment and when I have moments like
these it makes me so happy to be a missionary. The experiences I'm having are
so wonderful and so different than anything I've experienced. It truly is
amazing to be a missionary.
After a month being here, people are still
running away from us, shutting doors in our faces, and the only ones that want
to talk to us are all the dogs. It can be discouraging at times. We had a
person in our area book that had a long history of hanging up on missionaries.
And after three hours of street contacting with no luck, I just knew this guy
was going to hang up on us. We gave him a call and after introducing ourselves
he told us he is interested! Whaaaaaaatttt?!? So we are now teaching him. I
definitely learned from this that we should never "give up" on
anyone. The ninety-nine are important, but that one that is lost or has gone
astray, needs more love and more effort given. We should all be looking for and
loving that one.
This week was kind of a rollercoaster. It was
amazing, difficult, frustrating, exciting, stressful, and everything in
between. I love this scripture from Ether 12:6 "And now, I, Moroni, would
speak somewhat concerning these things; I would show unto the world that faith
is things which are hoped for and not seen; wherefore, dispute not because ye
see not, for ye receive no witness until after the trial of your faith."
This week i gave a talk about faith and missionary work. First off, I hate
giving talks. But second, I feel like I really learned a lot. Sometimes we have
to go through a rough patch. All of us will experience doubts and struggles.
But giving into these doubts and struggles won't make things better. As we
trust in Him, things will work out eventually. "Yea, cry unto him for
mercy, for he is mighty to save" (Alma 34:18).
I love you all!
Con amor,
Sister/Hermana Snow
