Hey Everyone
October 4, 2021
I'm not even sure how to
begin this email. So much happened this week! I'm now in Vegasssssss (actually
Paradise but basically Vegas too). Im pretty close to the strip if we are in
our area which is just weird. Being in valley compared to out of valley
is just very different. I feel like I'm in a whole new mission at times. I love
being able to speak with people in Spanish and everyone is so kind. And if you
go to anyone's house they feed you (which is probably not good...). I love it
here but I very much miss Kingman. However I do love how much we find people
and teach people. It's crazy to go from one lesson a day to like five in one
hour! And Hermana Jenkins is an amazing missionary. She's very kind and
knowledgeable. She's also been in this area for 7 months now. Which is kind of
insane but so different from what I'm used to.
I also was put in a trio for four days.
Hermana De LA Cruz extended her mission for a baptism and so I got the
opportunity to be her companion along with Hermana Jenkins. It was so amazing
to watch them in action. Hma De La Cruz just whips out scriptures on the fly,
quotes from the Bible, and is just an amazing missionary. I wish I could have
absorbed all she knows but sadly that's not how life works. We dropped her off at
the mission office on Friday and her mom was waiting to pick her up. It made me
cry it was so beautiful to watch their reunion. Of course it made me miss my
mom and family a lot. But missionary work is really awesome and we just jumped
right back in.
I've already met so many wonderful people. One
in particular I'd love to talk about is Jesús. He is on date to be baptized
this Saturday (please please pray for him!). Before getting to the area I had
seen this in the handy dandy area book. I thought that it was cool I would see
a baptism but I didn't really do any work for this one so it doesn't really
count. But it turns out he basically miraculously showed up at church one day.
The hermanas talked to him thinking he was a member and then he said he hadn't
been baptized but he had had all the lessons and wanted to be baptized. Super, super cool. He's hilarious and so amazing. He can be irreverent and we worry he
may not understand how important it is and then he says something extremely
profound and all those worries go away. We've also been teaching him over again
just to know he's had all the lessons. He's such a cool guy. And he loves to
refer to Jesus as his tocayo (basically person with your same name). I love
that guy so much!
Funny story: every Friday night we supposedly
go play soccer with a bunch of people: investigators, members, random
strangers, and other missionaries. This Friday was no different. You guys. I'm
horrible at all sports, but particularly soccer! I was super nervous about it.
But the whole time I just kinda chilled with Hermana Evans (who also is
terrified of soccer, I love her). Towards the end of the night I was talking
with Hermana Jenkins about someone we are teaching. Somehow the game ends up on
our side of the field and I'm kind of lightly jogging to get out of the way.
Someone kicks the ball, it hits my butt, and then goes flying into the goal. I
literally scored a goal (which is cRaZy) with my butt. All 30 people that were
playing fell on the ground laughing! Literally people were laughing so hard
they fell. I saw a few of the people that were there later in the week and they
all said something about it. So I guess I'm already making my mark here in
paraíso lol. But that was definitely a highlight of the week!
Also on a more spiritual note, conference was
so amazing! I love our prophet and apostles! There were some wonderful messages
shared and if you didn't watch it, go watch it! Apply what you learn, you'll
see blessings.
Con amor,
Hermana Snow
