Week 32: February 10-16, 2022 Why don't you talk normal?
Hey Everyone, February 16, 2022
This week has been super
interesting. I started out really just wanting to go home. I felt so homesick
and mission sick for the NLVM. This mission is just very different from my last
one. I also did not realize how hard it would be to adjust to a new country. It
is kind of tiring to have everyone gawk at you as you walk by and have some
even try and touch you or your hair... Sometimes it is funny, sometimes scary.
We had someone tell ask us to stop because they wanted to talk with us about
our message. We were super excited, but it turned out they were creeps and
started saying really inappropriate stuff to me (that I did not understand but
me companion did). we quickly ran home and nothing happened but it was scary
haha.
Guatemala also had a 6.7 earthquake last night
at 1am. Since it was kinda far from me, I felt it, but it was not that intense.
My comp was scared and thought we needed to leave our apartment and go to a
safe place because that is what they do in Nicaragua but i told her we were
probably fine to go back to bed haha. it was pretty fun.
As to the title of this email, we were walking
to a teaching appointment and we stopped to talk with this mom and her daughters.
The girls were kind of obsessed with me haha. They kept saying, ¨ooh your eyes
(hair, clothes, bag) are so pretty¨ and then they asked why I could not talk
normal haha. Their mom got so mad at them for being so weird but it was
adorable. And then at the lesson, I told the family about it and they laughed
so hard.
I am slowly but surely adjusting to the
language, the culture, the country, and the mission. Its been a process and I
have had to rely a lot on our Savior. I prayed Saturday night really hard to
connect with someone and that I could help someone. Well the next day they told
us we could now go to church in person. (YAYAYAY) and a very kind member,
Hermana Maria took me under her wing and made sure everyone involved me in
everything instead of having everything directed to Hermana Madrigal. She was
an answer to my prayers! I know that God does hear us when we speak to Him. He
wants to help us because He really is our loving Heavenly Father. It is
something that I am continuing to learn and feel every day.
Remember God Loves You SOOO much. His love is
perfect and infinite. He does hear and answer every one of His children. I love
you all!
Con amor,
Hermana Snow
